Docsumo vs Laserfiche

Laserfiche alternatives for teams who want agentic document workflows

Need another document management system? Compare DocuWare, or keep Laserfiche; Docsumo isn't one. Docsumo is an intelligent document processing (IDP) platform: AI agents check each document against the file, your team clears the exceptions, and the data goes on to your systems.

A new-vendor packet for Harlow Grounds Care LLC under MSA-2026-114, a grounds care contract. Docsumo's AI agents sort the six documents (vendor form, W-9, certificate of insurance, bank letter, signed MSA and rate sheet), read every name, tax ID, limit and rate, and check the packet: the rate sheet's crew rate of $92.00 an hour is $7.00 over the MSA's $85.00 cap. A workflow agent routes the packet to the procurement queue, where the organization's own procurement analyst approves the vendor at the MSA rate. The approved data goes on by API or webhook.

Questions

Questions about Laserfiche alternatives.

What is the best alternative to Laserfiche?

For a repository, records and retention, compare DocuWare or stay on Laserfiche: Docsumo isn't a document management system. To read documents and decide on them, Docsumo (ours) is an intelligent document processing (IDP) platform whose AI agents check each file for your team. ABBYY FlexiCapture and Tungsten Automation are capture alternatives.

How does DocuWare compare with Laserfiche?

Both are document management systems with workflow, cloud or self-hosted. DocuWare says its cloud typically costs $30 to $125+ a user a month, with a free 30-day trial; Laserfiche lists $42 to $93, by plan and seat minimum.

How much does Laserfiche cost?

Laserfiche lists per-user prices, billed annually: Professional $73 a user a month (5+ users), Business $93 (25+) and Business+ $42 (500+). Services and implementation cost extra, and AI features use metered AI units. Docsumo's plans are quoted, with unlimited users on Business.

Does Laserfiche have a free trial?

Only on request: every plan card leads to a demo form, and Laserfiche's docs say trials are requested there; length and cost aren't stated. Docsumo's free trial runs 14 days, up to 1,000 pages and 10 users.

Can Laserfiche automate data extraction?

Yes. Smart Fields fills metadata fields from a plain-language prompt, including line items, tables and handwriting. It gives no confidence scores, and Laserfiche says reviewing AI output stays with the customer. Docsumo sends low-confidence fields to your team and, on Enterprise, checks each document against the file.

Can Docsumo work alongside Laserfiche?

Yes. Docsumo checks each packet, then sends the data on by webhook or REST API; you can connect that to Laserfiche's REST API. Keep Laserfiche, or another document management system, for records and retention.

Can Laserfiche run on-premises?

Yes: self-hosted Laserfiche 12 is still sold, though Smart Fields there runs its AI in Laserfiche Cloud, and AI classification and agents are Cloud-only. Docsumo is cloud only.
